Early Years and Education
Education became one of my greatest teachers. Teaching
students with diverse academic, behaviour and other needs
gave me a close-up view of what helps people flourish beyond
societal expectations and limitations. I also learned
firsthand what happens when systems make it unnecessarily
difficult for them to thrive.
Finding Another Way
Some of my most important professional thinking emerged
from difficult periods in my own life and career. They
forced me to question conventional ideas about resilience,
leadership and wellbeing and to think more deeply about
the environments we create for people.
Building Silhouette's Café
Entrepreneurship gave me another classroom. I founded
Silhouette's Café as a wellness brand centred on relaxation,
natural living and intentional care. Building something of
my own strengthened my understanding of vision, creativity,
risk and what it means to turn an idea into something
tangible.
Becoming an Author
Writing gave me a different way to teach.
The Decision Is Just the Beginning and
Healing from Emotional Traumas grew from
experiences and lessons I believed deserved to be shared
beyond a classroom or workshop.
Expanding the Classroom
Over time, my classroom became larger. Teacher development,
leadership, professional learning, speaking, podcasting and
consultancy allowed me to work with people and organisations
in new ways while remaining grounded in the principles that
have shaped my career.
Returning to Jamaica
Returning to the country where my story began represents
another chapter. I bring home more than two decades of
international education experience alongside everything I
have learned through leadership, entrepreneurship, writing
and life.
The thread connecting it all is simple: I believe people can
create possibilities even when circumstances suggest otherwise.
